Every LUXMAT front row set comes standard with a heel pad on the driver’s side mat, and every set carries a 36 month warranty. There is nothing to add at checkout and no code to enter. The heel pad is simply part of the set.

Here is what a heel pad does, why it sits where it does, and what it means for how long your mats keep looking good.

The short answer

Every LUXMAT set includes a driver’s side heel pad and a 36 month warranty, on every vehicle we make mats for. The heel pad is there because the spot under your right heel is where a floor mat wears first, and a mat that holds up in that spot holds up everywhere else.

What is a heel pad?

A heel pad is a dedicated wear section built into the driver’s side mat, positioned exactly where your right heel rests as you move between the accelerator and brake. It takes the pivoting and grit pressure that builds up in that one spot, so the rest of the mat does not have to.

Why the driver’s side wears first

Most people only think about their floor mats once they start to show their age, and the damage tends to appear in the same place every time: a worn patch under the driver’s heel. That is not a sign of a poor quality mat. It is one small area doing a lot of work.

A typical commute means pressing and pivoting on that exact spot thousands of times a week, with grit from shoes, road dust and beach sand ground in underneath. A mat that wears through in one spot can look tired long before the rest of it has finished its job.

A dedicated heel pad takes that wear instead, which lets the rest of the mat get on with what it is there for: protecting your car’s carpet from everything you bring in with you.

What is included

  • A heel pad on the driver’s side mat of every front row set
  • A 36 month warranty on every set
  • Added automatically, so there is nothing to select at checkout
  • Every vehicle covered, with no exclusions

The passenger and rear mats do not have a heel pad, because that is not where the wear happens.

What it means for value

The price on the label is only part of what a set of mats costs you. What matters is how long it keeps doing its job, because a mat that is retired early costs you twice. Building the wear section into every set deals with the most common place a mat gives out, and the 36 month warranty puts a number on how long we expect it to hold up.

Looking after your mats

Coil rubber is easy to look after: lift the mats out, shake them off, hose them down and let them dry. The full routine is in our guide to cleaning coil rubber car mats.

Frequently asked questions

What is a heel pad on a car mat?

A heel pad is a dedicated wear section built into the driver’s side mat, positioned where your right heel rests as you move between the accelerator and brake. It takes the pivoting and grit pressure that builds up in that one spot, so the rest of the mat does not have to.

Does every LUXMAT include a heel pad?

Yes. A heel pad comes standard on the driver’s side mat of every LUXMAT front row set, for every vehicle we make mats for. It is added automatically, so there is nothing to select or enter at checkout.

Is there a heel pad on the passenger and rear mats?

No. The heel pad is on the driver’s side mat only, because that is where the wear concentrates. Passenger and rear mats are made without one.

What warranty does a LUXMAT come with?

Every LUXMAT set carries a 36 month warranty.

Why does a car mat wear out under the driver’s heel?

Your right heel pivots on the same small area every time you drive, and grit from shoes, road dust and sand is ground in underneath it. Over thousands of drives that one spot takes far more wear than the rest of the mat, which is why it is usually the first place a mat shows its age.
